8 of the Best Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Side Quests to Play

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a huge game full of exciting side quests to play alongside its main story questlines. Those are optional quests you don’t need to play through to complete the game. However, you should play through some side quests for leveling up, amassing drachmae, and collecting new gear. The best side quests also have some great stories and combat action. These are some of the best Assassin’s Creed Odyssey side quests to play.

“The Goddesses’ Hunt”

“The Goddesses’ Hunt” is a side quest you can unlock by speaking to Daphnae at the Temple of Artemis in Phokis. When you speak to her, she’ll challenge you to hunt down and kill several legendary creatures and return their pelts to her. You can then have loads of fun fighting and slaying some of the toughest boss creatures in the game across the map. This side quest doesn’t have the most compelling of stories, but it’s one of the best you can play for grizzly combat action. You’ll also receive the legendary Master’s Artemis Belt gear for returning all creature pelts to Daphnae.

To unlock this side quest, you must complete “The Daughters of Artemis” in Phokis. You’ll receive a legendary weapon for completing that quest. Then, Daphnae will ask you to kill numerous other creatures. To wrap the story up for “The Goddesses’ Hunt,” which has an interesting twist, complete the “Artemis’s Request” side quest after completion.

“Art Leading Life”

Phidias is an NPC you’ll meet up with during the “Escape From Athens” main story quest. Thereafter, you can speak to Phidias in Elis, who reveals that the Cult of Kosmos is after him because of a scytale used to send coded messages. Completing the “Message, the Stick, and the Artist” will enable you to play through “Art Leading Life,” a thrilling quest of exploration in which Phidias sends you to investigate statues in three locations. This side quest has quite a shocking ending when you return to Phidias to find him killed, and his demise is a mystery intertwined with the Atlantis questline.

Completing “Art Leading Life” also enables you to undertake a follow-on “Journey’s End” side quest, which has a big reward. You’ll receive the legendary Atlantean Blade for completing that quest. Finishing that quest doesn’t reveal who killed Phidias, but it’s obvious enough the Cult of Kosmos was behind it.

“They Just Want Cruelty”

The “They Just Want Cruelty” side quest is your invitation to discover the famed Pephka Arena. This quest leads you to Maion, who sends you to the Pephka Arena. There, you can fight through five opponents in a gladiator-style arena in what is an enthralling combat side quest. One of those opponents, Belos, is a Cult of Kosmos member you must kill to complete the Kosmos questline. You’ll also receive the legendary Armor of Achilles for eliminating Belos.

“A Business Opportunity”

Are you wondering what happened to Markos in AC Odyssey? If so, you can find out by completing the “A Business Opportunity” quest on Kos. You’ll be reunited with Markos, imprisoned at Artemis Fort when playing through that side quest. Then, you can play through additional side quests from there to do Markos another favor or teach him a lesson.

“Goddess of the Hunt”

“Goddess of the Hunt” is the most romantic of side quests in AC Odyssey, during which you can indulge yourself with Kyra on Mykonos. This side quest is the culmination of a series of optional quests you can start by completing “Trouble in Paradise.” Play through the additional side quests unlocked from there to assist Kyra’s rebellion on Mykonos. Then, you can have fun flirting with her on the “Goddess of the Hunt” side quest.

“A Great Escape” (“Those Who Are Treasured” Quest Chain)

“A Great Escape” is an optional side quest that effectively unlocks a free DLC story expansion for AC Odyssey with a new Korfu map to explore. Completing “A Great Escape” will whisk you away to Korfu for a vacation, where you can start the “Those Who Are Treasured” quest chain. The optional side quests you can complete in Korfu extend Odyssey’s Isu storyline by leading you to Aletheia at the Tomb of Phaiax. So, this is certainly one of the best post-game completion side quests to undertake when you’ve wrapped up the Gates of Atlantis quests in the game.

“Letter From Home” (“Every Story Has an Ending” Quest Chain)

“Letter From Home” is another of the best post-game completion quests you can play after finishing the Gates of Atlantis questline. For this quest, the Eagle Bearer takes Herodotus back to his homeland in Samos. This starts a new “Every Story Has an Ending” quest chain in which the Eagle Bearer and Herodotus must defeat a Persian invasion of Samos. It’s a quest series that reveals a more interesting background story for Herodotus.

“The Heir of Memories” (“Fate of Atlantis” Quest Chain)

If you want to find out who exactly killed Phidias, you can find out by completing the “Fate of Atlantis” prologue quests in AC Odyssey. You can start those optional side quests by completing the Gates of Atlantis questline and then the “The Heir of Memories” quest. This will set you off on a “Three Symbols Entombed” series of quests you can play out with Layla to unlock the Great Seal of Atlantis. Completing this quest chain also reveals who exactly killed Phidias and why in one of AC Odyssey’s most violent scenes. You can continue this quest chain by purchasing the Fate of Atlantis DLC expansion for AC Odyssey.

The eight optional quests (and their additional quest chains) above have some of the most interesting side stories and exhilarating combat action in AC Odyssey. You can also obtain some decent legendary gear by completing some of those quests. So, play through them when unlocked to expand the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey experience.
