DC Comics and Sega are joining forces for a team-up of epic and expeditious proportions — DC x Sonic the Hedgehog — and if the brand-new covers and preview pages are any indication, we’ll finally get the answer to the question: Who would win in a race, Flash, the fastest man alive or Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive? While our money’s always on Flash in a race, we’re willing to bet the writers of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog have more than a few surprises up The Blue Blur’s sleeve that’ll put the two on equal footing.
Aside from the obvious pairing of Flash and Sonic racing into battle, other panels see Knuckles and Superman side-by-side in flight, fellow technophiles Cyborg and Tails having a discussion, Wonder Woman and Amy meeting in mid-air, Silver the Hedgehog squaring off against Green Lantern John Stewart and Batman and Shadow the Hedgehog rounding a corner on their respective motorcycles.
According to DC’s official press release, “In DC x Sonic the Hedgehog by writer Ian Flynn and artist Adam Bryce Thomas, the Justice League will meet Sonic and friends to kick off an all-new, five-issue comic book series. The new series features an unprecedented crossover event where the Justice League and Team Sonic must unite to save their worlds from a major threat. DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #1 by Flynn, Thomas, and colorist Matt Herms will publish on March 19, 2025, with a cover by Pablo M. Collar and a variant cover by Ethan Young.”
The description continues, “The action speeds up when the monstrous Darkseid crosses dimensions to invade the world of Sonic the Hedgehog, seeking the ultimate power. Sonic and his friends have faced everything from mad scientists to ancient spirits, but the forces of Apokolips may be too much for them! Thankfully, the full heroic might of the Justice League arrives to back them up!
Throughout the five issues of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog, sacrifices will be made, heroes will rise, and the need for speed will test the Justice League and Team Sonic to their limits!”
The first issue of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog hits shelves on March 19th. You can also preorder the DC x Sonic the Hedgehog trade paperback collection on Amazon by clicking the link.
Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
