Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4: Can you still get the Victory Von Doom emote for Dr. Doom?

Forget Gwenpool, Peelverine, War Machine, Captain Jones, Black Panther and all the other heroic skins in the Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4 Battle Pass, you uncouth peasants. There is only Doom!

For those of you like me who weren’t playing Fortnite yet back in Chapter 2, Season 4 (which took place in the summer of 2020) and as a result didn’t obtain the original Doctor Doom skin through the Battle Pass, this current season has been a blessing of royal proportions thanks to the mid-season release of the brand-new, highly-detailed Doom skin (and the gold-lined Pandora’s Armor Doom variant).

So there I was, finally content after valiantly completing all twelve quests to obtain the new Doom skins. During the process I’d also procured the “Doom’s Domain” emote, which depicts Doom laughing haughtily at a hologram diagram of Helios Island before smashing it with his metal fists. There was still just one question after adding such an illustrious Latverian ensemble to my Fortnite locker; would I be able to get the highly-coveted “Victory Von Doom” built-in emote for Dr. Doom even though I hadn’t completed the original Chapter 2, Season 4 Battle Pass from which it was originally earned?

It was a pertinent question, considering when I pulled up the new Doom skin in my locker, the “Victory Von Doom” emote was there in my emote wheel but I was barred from accessing it. There was also a message in the emote wheel which read, “Must be Level 74 and have completed the Doom’s Awakening quotes.” After an update, Epic stated that the “Victory Von Doom” emote would be accessible with the brand-new Doom skins — but would that be true even for those of us who hadn’t played back in Chapter 2, Season 4?

Unfortunately, if you didn’t play through the Chapter 2, Season 4 Battle Pass and earn the Victory Von Doom emote (which was done by getting a Victory Royale with the Doom skin) you can’t use the emote with the new Doom skin — even though you get the message in your built-in emotes wheel that you can earn the emote by hitting Level 74 in the Battle Pass and completing the corresponding quests. However, if you did already earn the Victory Von Doom emote, it’ll work with the new Doom skin.

Although it’s disappointing that you can’t get the Victory Von Doom emote for the Chapter 5, Season 4 version of Dr. Doom unless you already previously earned the emote four years ago through the past Battle Pass, it’s possible Epic will either include a similar emote, with Dr. Doom sitting down in villainously regal fashion on his throne, as either a future Item Shop item or in a different style altogether, similar to the recently released Deadpool and Wolverine pen-and-ink-style skins.

Epic has also announced that Battle Pass items will no longer be exclusive, which opens up plenty of possibilities for Marvel-related Battle Pass items and anything Battle Pass-related in general being released in some way, shape or form in the Item Shop.

Are you disappointed at the fact that you can no longer get the Victory Von Doom emote for Dr. Doom in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4 unless you earned it four years ago? Should Epic do away with Battle Pass exclusivity for past Battle Pass emotes and items? Let us know in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
