WWE’s Randy Orton says he’s played Elden Ring for over 600 hours

On top of being one of the most recognizable names in pro wrestling, Randy Orton is a 14-time World Champion, with wins over such iconic wrestlers as The Undertaker, John Cena, Ric Flair and Batista. But recently there’s been another accomplishment that “The Legend Killer” can add to his vaunted list: he’s played Elden Ring for over 600 hours.

Orton admitted to his extensive adventures in The Lands Between on a recent episode of Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Want to Talk About” show.

“I almost don’t even want to say,” Orton explained. “I’m at like, now, keep in mind this game came out…I was out with spinal fusion surgery so I had a lot of time on my hands. I’ve got like six hundred hours on the game.”

Orton conceded to his estimated playtime with FromSoftware’s notoriously difficult fantasy action roleplaying game in a playfully embarrassed manner, though his passion for the game is clear.

“I love that game,” he added. “DLC just came out.”

The DLC to which Orton refers is the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which adds new weapons, weapon skills, equipment and magic not previously accessible in the core Elden Ring experience.

Rhodes confessed that he hadn’t been keeping up with the Elden Ring craze, which sold 12 million units worldwide just two weeks after its release and over 25 million units overall as of this writing, which makes it one of the best-selling games of all time.

“Here’s how far things have come,” Rhodes said. “You asked me something about Elden Ring the other day. I didn’t lie to your face I just kind of went ‘yea…’ You mentioned you were playing and I’m like, ‘eh…I’m not really…’ you know like I didn’t know?”

Orton said that he could sympathize with Rhodes’ plight, as the “American Nightmare” has been busy lately after unseating Roman Reigns and his 1,316-day-reign as WWE Champion at WrestleMania 40. Though he did admit that he wished Rhodes could fight alongside him as one of Elden Ring‘s Tarnished.

“Dude, you’re killing it and you don’t got the time, I understand why,” Orton replied. “I would love to chop it up about some Elden Ring with ya, trust me, I wish you were a fellow Tarnished, but you’re not.”

Are you surprised at the fact that WWE’s Randy Orton says he’s played Elden Ring for over 600 hours?

While the feat is impressive, Orton has admitted in the past that he’s actually hired people to help him with the game due to its difficulty level.

“Yeah, it’s [****ing] hard,” he admitted on a livestream with The Insiderz. “I paid a guy $1,000 bucks to give me infinite runes so I could level up to 100 right away. I love that game though. It’s awesome. But no, I couldn’t deal with that bull[****], so I just paid a guy to give me a bunch of runes.”

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
