Look out Zeus, Hades, Cerberus, Aphrodite and the rest of the Greek pantheon in the “Myths and Mortals” season of Fortnite — Epic is adding a couple of characters boasting plenty of mythological might to shake things up in the form of Marvel’s Sakaaran Champion Hulk and the main antagonist of Thor: Ragnarok — Hela Odinsdottir.
Sakaaran Champion Hulk, otherwise known as Gladiator Hulk, is Hulk as he appears in Thor: Ragnarok, adorned in gladiatorial armor which resembles that of an ancient Roman centurion, replete with a plumed crest brush helmet, spiked shoulder pauldron and leather tunic.
Hulk wore this armor during his stay on the planet Sakar, where he became the reigning champion in the Grandmaster’s Contest of Champions, a combat tournament organized by the Grandmaster of Sakar to entertain the planet’s citizens.
The green-skinned Hulk is synonymous with strength; he’s one of, if not the strongest superhuman being in the Marvel Universe in terms of physical strength, and his strength grows in commensurate fashion to his anger. And Hulk is always angry.
Hela Odinsdottir is, as her name implies, the daughter of Odin, older sister of Thor, and in her view, the rightful heir to the throne of Asgard in the absence of her father. She’s also the Asgardian Goddess of Death, who was imprisoned by Odin in Hel for millennia due to her overly belligerent and bloodthirsty nature.
In addition to her Asgardian physiology, which grants her superhuman strength, durability, speed and agility, Hela is also an extremely skilled combatant, capable of massacring hundreds of Asgardian soldiers and even the Valkyrie — elite female warriors of Asgard — alike.
Hela also has the unique power to manifest weapons from different parts of her body, such as necroswords, daggers, axes and spears. She’s able to wield these weapons in combat, launch them as projectiles and also convert this energy into physical armor that shields her from damage.
What do you think of the leaked Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2 skins, Sakaaran Champion Hulk and Hela? Will you be adding either of these skins to your repertoire in the “Myths and Mortals” season of Fortnite? Let us know in the comments.
Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
