Zack Snyder has had his hands full with his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon, which is set to premiere on Netflix on December 22nd, but that hasn’t prevented him from keeping the possibility of future endeavors in mind. One such possibility just so happens to be one of the most popular video games in the world and a personal passion of Snyder’s: Fortnite.
“Of course,” Snyder replied when asked by Canadian entertainment website Etalk.
Snyder said he had originally wanted to have Fortnite skins for the upcoming Rebel Moon, with the battle royale game that has recently added a popular Fortnite Lego mode to the fold captivating Snyder since he first began playing.
“I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for the movie [Rebel Moon], first of all, just like, as the most obviously basic involvement,” Snyder said. “But yeah, look, Fortnite is an amazing world, and it is an amazing distraction for me. But it’s really cool, and the alchemy that they’ve created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something entirely different.
“You definitely don’t know,” Snyder continued. “You definitely can never say never – that’s my mantra in this business.”
Snyder has expressed his love for Fortnite in the past, explaining that initially it was playing with his son that first sparked his interest for the game but it quickly turned into his own experience when he began playing even after his son lost interest.
“My son and I got into Fortnite. I kind of wanted to play it with him, and then he didn’t like it, so then I ended up just playing it by myself,” he explained to IGN at gamescom 2023. I went down a bad rabbit hole with Fortnite in the sense that I took a pretty deep dive… I was Meeseeks from Rick and Morty.”

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
