Diablo 4 is set to release tomorrow on June 6th and will take about 150 hours of gameplay for the average player to reach the max character level of 100, but that hasn’t prevented the developers from planning future content already; Blizzard is already working on two Diablo 4 expansions, which should satiate even the most grind-addicted, power-leveling fans of the latest installment in the iconic action role-playing game series.
“We have to build things in parallel,” Diablo 4 general manager Rod Fergusson said in an interview with the Kinda Funny Games podcast. “Right now as I sit here we’re about to launch the main game, we’re finishing up season one, we’re working on season two, we’re working on expansion one, we’re kicking off expansion two – all that’s happening right now.”
Although the information shouldn’t be a complete shock for Diablo 4 players, as the previous installment, Diablo 3, had the Reaper of Souls expansion, it’s still promising to know that Blizzard is already working on two Diablo 4 expansions as it’s a good indicator that the fourth installment of the game is expected to be met with better critic and fan reception upon launch than Diablo 3 was — and better sales as well.
Diablo 4 released its first hotfix for the game, the Diablo 4 patch 1.02 hotfix, for owners of the Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition, who can already play the game before its official June 6th release date. The Diablo 4 patch 1.02 hotfix made an adjustment to the Sorcerer’s Flame Shield enchantment, putting it on full cooldown when its initially equipped, and a fix to the Rogue move Inner Sight.
What do you think of the fact that Blizzard is already working on two Diablo 4 expansions? Are you looking forward to playing the game on its official release date? Or are you an owner of the Diablo 4 Ultimate Edition who’s already playing the game?
Diablo 4 will release on June 6th for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox One and PS4 platforms.
Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
