No More Heroes creator would love to make a Deadpool game with Marvel

No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda (AKA Suda51) took to Twitter this past weekend to announce that No More Heroes 3 would be the fourth and final installment in the action-adventure hack and slash series.

“This game is called No More Heroes 3 Final Bout: All-Out Galactic War,” Suda said in facetious fashion. “Or it was going to be called that, but the subtitle was just too long so we ended up taking a hint from the Rocky series and simply going with No More Heroes 3 instead.”

Suda also gave his final farewell to the series’ main protagonist, the beam-katana-wielding professional assassin, Travis Touchdown.

“As hinted at with the ‘Final’ thing,” Suda said, referring to the message given in his tweet, “Travis Touchdown will finally be coming to the end of his final battle, and will be embarking on a much-deserved, long journey… “Goodbye, Travis. Goodbye, No More Heroes. Goodbye, fleeting moments and days. Farewell, to all Travis Touchdowns everywhere.”

Although it’s always a bittersweet feeling to see a beloved video game series come to an end, fans of the No More Heroes games likely won’t be disappointed to hear which games Suda is interested in working on next, one of which would feature the Regeneratin’ Degenerate himself: Marvel’s Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool (as well as some other quirky superheroes from the Marvel Universe who would be interesting to see in their own title).

“But [in terms of] the kind of things I’d love to do, I’d also love to work with Marvel on a Shatterstar or Deadpool game, something sort of Grasshopper-y like that. Maybe a Quicksilver title of some sorts. So, Marvel, you know,” Suda said in a livestream with IGN Japan.

Although Suda51 working on a Deadpool game with Marvel is still only wishful thinking at this point, he did point out that he and his developmental studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, already have future projects lined up for the next decade.

“The broad answer is we already have a lot of products that are in development,” Suda explained, “and over the next 10 years we have three original IPs that we’re working on and we have already planned out.

“So you can definitely look forward to a lot of new, interesting original IPs from Grasshopper. We also of course have other plans and are working hard on them to bring them to fruition.

Do you think Suda51 working on a Deadpool game with Marvel would be a win-win situation for all parties involved (and we the players, of course)? Sound off in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
