Those of you worried that your saved files for Cyberpunk 2077 on the Playstation 4 wouldn’t be cross-save compatible with the Playstation 5 version can rest easy; developer CD Projekt Red confirmed recently that you’ll be able to continue playing any Playstation 4 save from Cyberpunk 2077 to the Playstation 5 version thanks to backwards compatibility.
Here’s how to transfer saves in Cyberpunk 2077 from PS4 to PS5. There are currently three ways to do this:
- Connect to your PlayStation Plus account and upload your saves
- Transfer your data via LAN cable or wireless connection (WiFi)
- Use a compatible storage device to copy and transfer your saves to the same PSN account on PlayStation 5.
CDPR stated that the optimization of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game was a big cause for the game’s delayed release date from November 19th to December 10th, so it’s nice to see that some of that optimization ostensibly went towards making the option to transfer saves in Cyberpunk 2077 from PS4 to PS5 a reality.
CD Projekt Red QA Lead Lukasz Babiel revealed last week that he’d put over 175 hours of playtime into Cyberpunk 2077, specifically the Nomad lifestyle path, and still wasn’t finished yet, which is an auspicious sign that the upcoming action roleplaying game will deliver on a sprawling, futuristic world and plenty of content therein. That means the option to transfer saves in Cyberpunk 2077 from PS4 to PS5 will be a more than welcome addition, especially since it’s so difficult for individuals to get their hands on a Playstation 5 at the moment.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on December 10th for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia platforms.
What do you think of the process to transfer saves in Cyberpunk 2077 from PS4 to PS5? Easy enough, right? Let us know if you have any further questions in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
