“Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can.”
And apparently that’s sell copies for the Playstation 4. To be more precise, 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, according to a recent LinkedIn post made by Playstation global marketing leader, David Bull. In the post, Bull specified what was required of his job role and key achievements in his career thus far — one of which was listed as, “Broke sales records with a recognized marketing campaign for Marvel’s Spider-Man. Sold 3.3MM units sold in the first three days and over 20 million units globally.”
The last reported sales figures for how many units Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 has sold was back in August 2019, when Gamesindustry.biz reported on Sony acquiring Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s sales numbers at that time were 13.2 million units sold, so the jump to over 20 million is an impressive feat which can likely be attributed to the hype surrounding the PS5 release, as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered being among the games you could play upon the PS5 launch.
Bull’s post also touched upon the Playstation garnering $6.8 billion in revenue, along with 75 million video game titles shipping worldwide, which included Marvel’s Spider-Man, Death Stranding, Uncharted, and Ratchet & Clank.
Are you impressed by how many units Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 has sold? Especially for a single console? Let us know in the comments.
Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
