Activision revealed Zombie Onslaught, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s brand-new gameplay mode which will be exclusive to the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 consoles; the two-player, fast-paced Zombies experience will pit Operators against increasingly difficult waves of the undead and play across various multiplayer maps with custom loadouts.
From the official Playstation blog description of Zombie Onslaught:
Warning. Containment Breach.
Dark Aether anomalies have infested familiar locations across the globe with hordes of the undead in an all new Zombies experience – Onslaught. Grab a teammate in this 2-player co-operative experience and fight off wave after increasingly difficult wave of zombies. You have one goal… survive. Fight hard enough and you’ll reap exclusive rewards. Experience Onslaught first on PlayStation.* *Not available on other platforms until Nov 1. 2021.
Zombie Onslaught starts off by dropping players in a random spot on the map where a Dark Aether Orb will spawn, confining the two players to a specific spot; once enough Zombies have been killed, the Orb will move, providing players the opportunity to enter it and prevent themselves from taking Dark Aether damage. Each wave of zombies, or “surge” will bring faster, deadlier and more resilient zombies as well as the chance for a deadly Elite enemy as time goes on.
Zombie Onslaught, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s exclusive PS4 and PS5 mode will be a timed exclusive for approximately a year. The Zombies experience will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC starting November 1st, 2021.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available on November 13th, one day after the Playstation 5’s release on November 12th.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
